Print out a sample letter to send to your congress person or senator or download it in Word format.

Great idea, Sharon..

Maybe we could work on that one...

I am going to be talking with Jayne tomorrow and I'll mention this to her, too.

I think that this is a great idea, Sharon.

I was thinking of having several typs of letters to choose from or even having a thread where everyone can post a letter they sent if it is different than the sample. That way people could get lots of ideas to use.

Looking foward to our chat, Sue!

I have contacted two of the representatives in our state about 2 months ago. None have responded but I did send the letter out via email. I believe it's better to send the letters out snail mail. I already know one of the congressmen personally as he used to be our neighbor a few years back. I hope that helps to get our foot in the door to declare 4/8 as Cushing's Awareness Day!

I will be sending out letters to all our representatives this week.

Kathi, that a big plus.

Would it be possible for you to talk with him?

I realize it's too late to have an 'official' Cushing's Awareness Day for 2005, but it's never too soon to work towards the goal for 2006.

He might even give you some ideas on what we need to do for our congressmen to 'truly listen to us'.

Hi,

I sent a letter to our Congressman Istook.

His office person called me today and said that she didn't think there was enough time to get an "official" day for this year. I'm not exactly sure how these things are done, so I asked her if they could work on one for at least next year.

I also invited Rep Istook & his wife to our luncheon. He's very busy I'm sure and don't expect that he's going to make it, but hey, who knows.

Has anyone else heard back from their senataors or reps? Cheryl F

That's awesome Cheryl. Keep 'Spreading the word' to everyone.

The White House says it takes 6 weeks notice to petition if it can happen.

Where is Lunch?

Jayne,

OKC on March 12 at noon....my house! It would be so fun. We could even go to Bricktown, the Bombing site....we even have a canal with boats...probably not quite like San Antonio, but we're working on it, we could have a sleep over...I could get a wading pool and put it out back and we could dip our toes in it...what fun we could have in OKC! And you never know, maybe Istook will make it for lunch. I think maybe his wife has been over before..I just can't remember. I did go to his house and have cherry pie once. Long story. He has adorable kiddos...

Christy is going to be there, and maybe Canasa, and Michelle...you never know who'll show up!

So...maybe we'll see you then???? Love, Cheryl F

:rolleyes::blink::lol:

OKC is about a 20 hour drive for me, so I don't think I'll be popping by. Sorry. It sounds like fun. I'll be there in spirit. Don't get too sunburned.

Jayne :P
