Herbal Remedies?

Recommended Posts

Howdy y'all!

I was looking up "possible" herbal remedies for Cushing's.

I was wandering, has anyone tried the herbs listed of this website?

http://www.herbchina2000.com/therapies/PCD.shtml

[Note: check the price tag. OUCH!]

Anyways, i guess my question is; has anyone had any luck with herbs, aromatherapy, etc for Cushing's? If so, what has helped you?

Thanks, and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Adrianne ~

BTW, SO FUNNY, they have herbs for dogs and cats with Cushings. :) Sad folks care more for animals then they do for there fellow human being.

Well I have never really looked into any of this I just assumed that if Herbs and aromatherapy could cure cushings I would know about it by now. Maybe there is somthing that can help, I am not sure. I do know people that have cushings have bad immune systems. I would look at ways in your diet to boost your immune system and see a homeopath be carefull they try to sell you everything. Just go for one apt and get imput you dont need to take 24 different vitamins my mom always said you pee most of them out anyways. Be carefull with anything you try too, and look it up online and see side effects ect I have had doctors try to perscribe me pill and find out after looking them up some harmfull side effects. I hope all is well and I think it would be cool if there were ways to boot our immune systems with having this desease. I am looking into acupuncture. Hope all is well :)

I would always check with your Endocrinologist before adding herbs to your vitamins. My doctor suggested I take L-Carnitine to reduce the protein cravings it seems to work pretty well. He also recommended extra calcium (those chocolate chewy ones) and some extra zinc. I have an appointment with an acupuncturist so I'll keep you posted on that.

I am writing a research paper on equine cushings and have found that horse owners are using "Chasteberry" Tea to treat their cushie equines. Of course, there hasn't been any official studies on it, but the results reported by owners are very, very interesting. Here's a link...

Women who have servere pain during menstration report that Chasteberry actually helps calm things down a bit, too. Interesting...

If I find out that I have cushings, I think I'll be trying natural methods first. The surgery and prospect of the cushings coming back, freaks me out. :cheer:

Watch out for the Chastetree berry /Vitex, I think it put me into adrenal insuf.

Dr. F recommended glutamine for the muscle wasting

I also use:

b12 and b6 for fatigue and muscle pain

zinc, olive leaf, oregano oil caps, silimaryin (milk thistle), vit. C crystals all for immune boosting

chromium picolinate for insulin resistance

CoQ10 is very important for the heart - this helps me the most of anything I take along with

vitamin D which been a godsend for the muscle and bone pain

These all just help symptoms to a small degree. Nothing will cure a tumor. There is a long list of things not to take when you are testing. Good luck with your search.

Thank you for all the information.

I've also heard you pee most of it out; like Vitamin C.

I sadly do not have an endo yet, but that is a good idea.

I take 30 or 50ml of zinc each day; i hate it, zinc makes me feel so sick...

Thank you all for all of your help!

I too took Chaste Berry, but this was about a year ago when I first noticed the breast mil again. THe Dr's said I had good boobs & just needed to get some R & R. They said it was a possible over abundance of Estrogen, but wouldn't offer any ideas or RX. Chaste Berry came up on the net as the "cure all" for Estrogen dominance so I tried it for 2 bottles worth- I believe I actually got worse. Now sometime around there I am starting to piece together that I my immune system was extremely weak (did I do more damage w/ the Chaste Berry?) also and I got a bad case of Epstein Barr virus...?

I am currently on so many different vitamins & supplements, it is disgusting- and I still feel like crap. Tonight I had throbbing flank pain so bad I thought it (my adrenal gland) was going to pop out of my side! I will admit when I 1st added multi vitamins (like quadruple doses) to my daily regimen (this was back b4 I saw a DR- but I was getting extreme exhaustion)I did get a little pick me up, then I added B-complex- this helped a little for awhile. Then NP saw High Cortisol levels & suggested zinc, meg B complex (b12 most). But most importantly this stuff called PS (polyserinated something or other; I can never quite figure out what this exactly is!) and this Adrenal Rebuilder (which consisted of disseciated adrenal & pituitary glands). One of these two pills started making my flank hurt like #%*!. I could never take them regular. NP couldn't give me an explanation or direction to go. Next Doc said take Vit D for the exhaustion- I tried - haven't noticed a difference. Allergist said Vit C for immune deficiencies & horrid PMS. Now this has seemed to help - especially with energy levels. I was taking between 4,000 to 8,000 mg a day - very spread out 2 morn, 2 lunch, 2 afternoon & 4 at bed. I would wake up even wake up refreshed sometimes in the morn if I took the 4 @ night. But... like everything else...it has seemed to fade... those little sparks of hope keep me going...knowing there is something there inside still alive......that there may be hope to jump start me back to life..... with the right combination of sparks!!!!
