TOS

Please note: Blogs, searching, PMs and a few other features are only available to members who have posted a few times.

The way to get started is to post a bit about yourself on the Introduce Yourself forum. Read some of the posts on the boards and respond to those that sound interesting. Before long, you'll have access to all the features that are available.

Rules of the Road...

Please Follow The Cushing's Help and Support Message Board Guidelines:

The new, improved Cushing's Help and Support Message Board has many new features. The board is divided into individual subjects. We recommend you first look around, familiarize yourself with the new format and features. Before you can begin posting, it is necessary for you to register. You can do so by clicking "Register" on the menu at the top of your screen.

After registering, you will get an email. Click on the link in that email to confirm that your address is correct before attempting to post.

The more you post, the more features will become available to you.

Once done, feel free to select subjects of interest to you and post to your heart's content, but please read these guidelines before posting.

** It is recommended that when registering you keep your E.mail address "private." Anyone interested in connecting with another member can utilize the "messenger" feature to send a message. This can be located on the menu bar at the top of the screen, or in each person's posted message. Another option would be to Email the Moderator requesting someone's address. The board administrator will obtain permission from the requested party to provide their E.mail address.

We do not dispense medical advice here or endorse any specific doctors or medical institutions. We also do not endorse the views and opinions expressed on this forum.

Before considering any treatment that affects your health, consult your doctor or qualified medical personnel.

While we do our best to provide an open and friendly atmosphere, there are some basic guidelines that must be followed.

We reserve the right to edit, modify or remove any topic that is deemed inappropriate.

Please do not openly challenge the decisions made by our staff or moderators. If you disagree with a someone's actions, PM either admin or MaryO to settle the problem. Do not post about it in public or disrespect our staff. If you have an issue with another board member, please take it up with him/her in a PM or email - and put him/her on ignore.

If anyone responds at all to a post that is turning nasty rather than notifying me they will get a warning. People who bash others on here or doctors/institutions will have their posting ability (including PMs!) restricted.

If you are not supporting others, expect to find another board to post. We reserve the right to remove any member who violates our community guidelines. However, warning will be provided in most cases. Those who are deemed a threat to the community will be banned immediately.

If you feel that a topic is not appropriate for the forum that it is in, please do not post about it in public, instead, PM a moderator, staff member or admin and inform them of the problem.

Please keep in mind that minors frequent these forums, as well as people of diverse backgrounds, and post appropriately. Excessive foul language and inappropriate images will not be tolerated. Flaming and trolling are also prohibited.

Guidelines:

1) Please conduct yourself in the same courteous, respectful manner you would in any public forum.

2) Messages linked to commercial sites are not permitted.

3) Messages advertising products and services are not permitted except in the Cushie Commerce area. These products and services must be provided by message board members only who have attained the status of at least "Board Member".

4) Messages requesting participation in and information for books, newspaper or magazine articles and school papers or theses are not permitted unless the author is a message board member who has attained the status of at least "Board Member".

Conversely, do not use member images from their galleries, avatars or posts anywhere online or off without the member's express permission.

5) Please do not advertise other organizations or suggest membership in them. This site costs a lot of money and time for one person to run, so it wouldn't be fair to use this site to advertise another.

7) Profanity is not permitted on these boards, nor are links to sites containing pornography.

8) Please do not attack other participants. Messages of a confrontational manner are not permitted and will be removed at the discretion of the Board Administrator. If you take issue with the nature of a message, address the message. Please do not attack the messenger.

9) Messages or behavior which does not comply with the Cushing's Help and Support Message Board Guidelines will be removed at the discretion of the Board Administrator.

10) Those who repeatedly refuse to abide by these guidelines may be banned from future participation in these forums.

11) Those found to be harvesting E.mail addresses from these message boards for the purpose of selling products will have their accounts terminated immediately.

12) Please do not begin a new topic without first checking to see that a topic doesn't already exist that would be suitable for your message. Do not flood the boards with multiple copies of the same post. People will read and respond if they have the answers you are looking for. Posting the same thing over and over uses up valuable server space and identical posts will be deleted.

13) Please do not start multiple topics, or redundant posts, or "nonsense" posts, just to get your post count up. This is an incredible waste of board resources, kind of like opening a new loaf of bread every time you want a piece of toast. Posts like this will be deleted and the number subtracted from your total.

14) "Bump" posts are not allowed. They merely take up space and bandwidth. Instead, link to the post you think is so important in your signature. People will find it that way if they are interested. Posts which exist only to move the topic to the top of the boards will be deleted.

15) Do not type in all capital letters. All capital letters are very hard for most people to read and your post may not get the proper attentions it deserves if people cannot read it. If you feel you need to make an important point, use the bold feature, or use one of the colors to make it stand out from the rest of your post.

16) Please be careful not to say negative about specific doctors or medical institutions. This is not to cover anything up but to prevent *you* from a possible lawsuit. Doctors have been known to sue patients for negative things that have been said about them online. There is at least one doctor mentioned on here who regularly searches for instances of his name online.

Please, protect yourself and the integrity of this website. If you must say negative things about a specific doctor, use the private PMs or emails only. Thank you.

17) DO NOT post the contents, entire or full, of any personal message you've received. This includes PMs (personal messages) and email.

18) Collecting money for patients to see a specific doctor or go to a specific hospital is prohibited. Fundraising for a specific patient or project is also prohibited.

19) Doctors and their staff may not use this board as a means to send messages to their patients OR to collect information about other members. Doctors and staff are not permitted to promote their practices.

20) Do not hotlink images. Bandwidth theft or "hotlinking" is direct linking to a web site's files (images or video). Sites pay for monthly date transfer. When you hotlink, every time that post is read, it costs another site money. A simple analogy for bandwidth theft: Imagine a random stranger plugging into your electrical outlets, using your electricity without your consent, and YOU paying for it. Many sites will trace the image(s) back to this site and may fine or sue this site - or you.

If there is an image you want to use, AND IT IS LEGAL TO DO SO (check the website where the image is located to be sure that you can use their images), please download to your own computer, then upload to a site such as PhotoBucket or Flickr, first.

This site and these boards are a haven for support and friendship. They are NOT for people pushing or selling products nor for MLM marketing. They are also not for people interested in participating in, or spreading gossip and hurtful commentary on other members

This is a non-sectarian community. We are people from every ethnic and religious background. This community respects everyone's personal beliefs, but links to religious sites are not permitted.

If you have any questions about these guidelines or how these message boards work, feel free to ask in the New Boards - Questions and Answers topic or Email the board administrator.
