  1. Hey Hollie, My name is Mattie and I just had the transphen surgery on the 5th of April. I was out of the hospital on the third day. The only major problem I have had is that I forgot to take the 10 mg of hydrocort in the evening one night and got really really sick. I too have a sinus infection but my doc told me I would probably get one. Have you read anything about adrenal crisis? Some of these symptoms sound similiar. I am not feeling as well as I had hoped to by now but I hope to go back to work on Monday which will be two weeks.
  2. Sounds possible. The aching muscles definately sound like what I am experiencing. I am 30 and I keep saying I feel like I have the body of a 90 yr old. I am so tired that I can hardly get out of bed and by the time I take a shower in the morning I have exhausted all of my energy. My legs and arms feel like jello a lot of the time. You know how your muscles feel after you have worked out really hard that is the way mine feel most of the time and I sure haven't been working out lately. I have gotten to where my legs just give out a lot and I fall down. How is your blood pressure? I gained over a hundred pds in a little over a year. I was diagnosed in December with Cushings and after many tests I just went to meet with the neuro surgeon last week. I am now waiting for a date for surgery. Do you have the buffalo hump ( hump between shoulders at top of back)? Also do you have a moon face (very rounded face)? I am also unable to sleep at night. I usually go to sleep quickly but then wake up a few hours later and can't sleep. I hope that if it is Cushings you can get a quick diagnosis! If you have any other questions, I am not an expert, but I will share with you anything I have experienced. By the way my name is Mattie. Good luck!
  3. I am so excited to see you post a journal after surgery! I am pretty sure that I am looking at surgery soon and I am trying to find out what to expect. I am in the middle of my student teaching right now and am trying to decide if I will be able to complete it after surgery or wait until next semester. I am very excited that you have that many improvements in 6 days. I hope that everything continues to go well for you! Have you had any of the withdrawls that so many people have described? Thank you so much for your posts!
  4. I am so sorry you are not getting the answers you need. I do not have any answers for you either as I am still in the diagnosis and testing stages. Hang in there one week and you will have surgery and sounds like chances are good that you will start to feel so much better. I am praying for you and wish there was something I could do or that I had some answers for you. I know it is really scarey not being able to rely on your doctor to give you answers. Good luck and hang in there! If you can live with cushings you can do anything!!!

    Cushings Symptoms

My thyroid test came back normal all three times. I was just diagnosed with cushings this month. I have similiar symptoms as you have described. Do you have high blood pressure? That is what really alarmed me at first was because I am 29 and my bp was 220/120. I would definately go see and endo that has experience with Cushings. I would have them test your cortisol levels.

    My story

Thank you so much for responding. It is so nice to figure out that I am not going crazy! I am doing my student teaching for my education degree right now. It is killing me but if I do not finish then I do not graduate in May. I have been to the endo and he did diagnose cushings and did an ACTH test. I went back this week for a high dose dex test with CRH stimulation. He said he wanted to rule out psuedo-cushings and try to locate where to look for tumor. I guess this is a start. There are just some days I think I can't do this for one more day. I WANT MY LIFE BACK!!!! I want to play and laugh with my kids. I am so tired right now that all I do is yell at them. I know they cannot figure out what is going on because I was always so involved with them. We were always doing something and I never yelled. Now I am doing good to get out of bed in the morning and even better to get them in bed before I go to bed. Luckily I am living with my mother right now while I am going back to school so she can help some, but her health is not good either. It was really nice to meet you and I hope everything goes well with your surgery! My name is Mattie.

    My story

Thanks so much for your information. I have an appt with endo on the 13th. I just want to be able to play with my kids again. They are 6 and 9 and just don't understand why I don't feel like playing with them like I used to.
  9. I just received a call back from my doctors office and they have referred me to an endo for cushings disease. My 1 mg dex test came back with a level of 19. What is normal? I didn't get a chance to ask her. Also, any ideas as to what the endo will want to do next? I am supposed to start my student teaching this coming Monday. I will graduate with my teaching degree in May. So far I am gathering that the most opted for treatment is surgery, however, right now it sounds like the recovery time is pretty lengthy and I cannot miss my student teaching or I do not graduate. Are there other options that I might seek for treatment until I could have the surgery. I currently am going to have a hard time making through a day of teaching as I have no energy and am worn out by any physical activity, however I really want to graduate in May. It has taken we until I was almost 30 to accomplish this and I do not want to wait.

    My story

Wow. I am reading all this information and thinking that someone is writing my story already. I have gained about 100 pds in a little over a year. I sweat all time. I have headaches all the time. My feet swell so much that I can hardly wear my shoes some days. I have a hump at the top of my back that looks like I am storing up water like a camel or something. My face is so fat that you cannot see my ears when you look at me. I look like i could be pregnant with quadruplets. All of my weight is in my mid section and my face. I am currently having to take blood pressure med in fear that I was going to have a stroke it got so high. I am getting ready to turn 30 next month and i feel like I have the stamina of a 90 yr old person. I cannot even grocery shop without feeling like i have ran a marathon. By the time I am done, I feel like my back is going to break and my legs will not hold me up. I am always tired, soooo tired. I cannot even play with my kids anymore without being totally drained. I do not have the energy to do anything anymore. I am waiting on test results from the test where I took a pill at 11 pm and had bloodwork done at 8 am. My first 24 hr urine test showed high levels of cortisol so they are doing this now. Where do I go from here? Maybe it really all is from being overweight. I am embarassed to even tell the doctor some of the symptoms because I know the response will be lose weight, if only it was that easy. I am feeling so defeated, I want to lose the weight, I want to play with my kids again! I want my active life back!
