    had some testing

I participated in the research today and had some type of iv dexamethasone test over a period of 5 hours. I go back tomorrow for a final blood. I will only be contacted if the tests are abnormal as it wasn't a consultation just me helping with research. The other endos don't think I have cushings despite abnormal abnormal cortisol tests and unfortunately this latest bunch seem to have taken this onboard, obviously I still think I do but sure it could be 'just' pcos. Hopefully if these tests are abnormal they will actually let me know as a courtesy. In the meantime I made a decision that if I do not receive any information suggesting I may be able to support a cushings diagnosis then I am going to have some kind of lapband surgery or maybe the new surgery during which a ball is inflated in ones stomach. Surgery is a last resort and I have reached that point. Today I had to be weighed and I am 130 kg - what a shock. My weight is rising exponentially. I think when I started posting in 2003 I was about 110 kg and thought that was a crisis. So either way something has to be done.

    testing tomorrow

After giving up on testing, tomorrow I am participating in a research project and having some sort of iv dex testing to be performed over a couple of hours. I also get another 24 hour urine and evening saliva test thrown in, as well as some bloods. The project is about distinguishing between pcos and cushings and I was a perfect candidate. The endocrinologist was impressed that I had kept all of my previous results, mainly due to advice I had received or read about on these boards.
  4. Its also used sometimes as a migraine preventer. Originally prescribed to lower blood pressure, it was found that it also decreased the frequency and severity of migraines in some, not all, sufferers. I have been on it for a year now as a migraine preventer and it is my miracle drug. Its also known as Inderal.
  5. I've just checked some of the products we use and in some cases on the 'active ingredients' are listed. I will have to dig a bit deeper. I wonder if ingredients vary from country to country. Thanks for posting the link.
  6. Just when I believed I didn't have cushings (this is what the best experts in my country have said), I read this article and have every symptom they mention. I need a daily cocktail of drugs to function and feel unwell all the time. Oh well it looks like i haven't met my last endo! God I'm confused! BWT - technically, what is supposed to happen to T4 levels in a person with cushings? Thanks for posting this concise informative article - I knew there was a reason I loitered.
  7. I have pcos diagnosis and have been on a so called mini-pill (oral progesterone only) for 3 weeks and am losing weight. I didn't expect this.
