  1. Man oh man . . . . . when will they ever get it. It is so sad and scary to read of such a tragedy. And to read his symptoms . . . . . boy does that hit home. Thanks for posting Robin. Amy
  2. OK . . . . my eyes hurt too bad and I'm too dizzy to go back and read this entire thread. How did I miss it anyway? But, sounds like your working on t-shirts . . . . .? If so, count me in. I would take at least two because my husband is a survivor also . . . . . he survived me having cushings. Sorry I'm so out of it, Amy
  3. Hey Cathy, I got that UFC about 1 1/2 years ago. When that endo dismissed me I went on to another who dismissed me also (these were local endos). My case seems to be cyclical so there were a variety of test results mixed in. I am now seeing Dr. L at OHSU and scheduled for CSS on May 16th. I am just so thankful that I finally found a doctor that believes in and treats cyclical cushings. Hopefully I'm on my way! Thanks Amy
  4. While testing with the last endo that told me metabolic syndrome X, I had a 24 hr UFC of 139.7 with a high end of the range being 50. He said the reason it was so high was because of the syndrome X and my weight. Needless to say, I moved on. Based on anything that I have read, high cortisol is not present with syndrome X. I'm not a doc I just read a lot. And speaking of reading a lot, another endo told me to quit reading because I couldn't understand it anyway. Let me hush . . . . . Amy Cathy - I just pulled this up and read a little. It states that this all could be a chain reaction of some sorts. Just like you said - the endocrine system is all tied together and when one part fails, others may fail also. It also states that in metabolic syndrome X, cortisol levels are not increased.
  5. I will have to wait and print this out tomorrow at work (my printer at home has got a cat sleeping on it)! I'm being serious - and she gets her cat hair all over it. I guess she likes sleeping there because it's warm. My eyes are bothering me so bad lately that I find it very hard to look at the computer screen for very long at one time. I was told by a couple of endos that I had metabolic syndrome X. I think that is just a catch-all for when they really don't know what's wrong or either they don't want to take the time to find out. Thanks for the link!! Amy
  6. That's interesting! Didn't realize that about the acid reflux drugs for sure. I currently take Aciphex - but only for as short a time as possible whenever I need it. I hate taking medicine - period!!!!
