Over 2000 Posts ADDflower Posted October 1, 2007 Over 2000 Posts Report Share Posted October 1, 2007 I'd be curious to know if anyone has experience with this doctor... http://boltemedical.com/doctor_thomas_bolte_md.htm There was an article about him in Discover Health's Medical Mysteries Magazine so I looked him up. There's a link to his myspace page too.

I would be curious to see if anyone has used him or if someone local would be willing to see him to find out how "open" he truly is.
MCF
I might, though he's a tad new agey and gooey for my sensibilities. Still, the stuff he says about eclectic knowledge is right on the money.
justashell
LOL!!!! He kind of reminds me of my kids when they were rollerblading. Seriously though...I've been thinking a lot about how the medical field/healthcare system works and doesn't work. I'd definitely check this guy out. Earlier, while on another site, I ran into this site with doctors who you can "consult" with. I think that the medical field and the health care systems are undergoing a huge change----lots of traditional doctors are fighting it---I think that's part of the problem I've run into with my local doctors---but as more people have access to more information, then things are going to change. It's inevitable. Here's that website: http://www.kasamba.com/experts/health-medicine/ I've often wished I could have consulted with a doctor, without going through the hassle of making an appointment, dealing with insurance issues, etc. PS---My mom (84) recently tried to make an appointment with dermatologist about a spot on her face---the first question they asked was what kind of insurance she had (medicare) and if she had the extra cash for the procedure that they would probably have to do. These are questions asked by the receptionists!!! My mom told them to forget it. She didn't feel like they cared too much about her or her spot...it was all about the MONEY!!! I think the more traditional US doctors---who have an enormous office, staff, etc., etc..., are going to find themselves having trouble in competing with the guys who know what they are doing and or operating the "micro" practices---where the doctor spends more time with the patient and less time dealing with checks, insurance, etc.

Any doc that admits that the body systems are interrelated and seeks out hard to diagnose patients and lives to solve their problems, well, we could really use more docs like this in our lives. Plus, from his website, you can get a sense of who he is as a person. So many times, the doctors seem to thrive in an atmosphere that makes them feel superior to the patients. I hate that world. When you see a doc's interests, it humanizes them and lets you connect with them as humans, not just patient-doctor. Plus, I love rollerblading and think if I lived in a big city, I would roller blade everywhere to. This seems like a smart man. I did watch the Fox news segment at the bottom. They were such dopes. "HOW CAN A DOCTOR WHERE ROLLER BLADES... that is just soooooooooooo crazy and obviously negates any medical knowledge in your head.... why should we listen to you.... get this, a doctor on roller blades!!" People need to open their minds and keep their eyes on the ball. Anyway, I hope someone goes to see him. I bet he is open to the idea that Cushing's isn't so rare, but rarely diagnosed.
