When delivering clinical care, clinicians face a multiplicity of potential diagnoses, limitations in diagnostic capacity, and ?sub-clinical? disease identified by tests rather than by clinical manifestations. In addition, clinicians must recognize the rapid changes in scientific knowledge needed to guide decisions. Cushing?s syndrome is one of several disorders in which there may be considerable difficulty and delay in diagnosis. This article describes a current model of clinical reasoning, some of its challenges, and the application of the principles of clinical epidemiology to meet some of those challenges. armymp
Thanks for that link. Do you know much about the author? I thought about sending him an email. I noticed that he works for the VA. I am a veteran. I was in the Army for 10 years and really enjoyed it. I had to get out because all of my symptoms started after I had my son (difficult pregnancy, HELLP and Pre-eclampsia). I couldn't do the work that the the Army required, so when my enlistment was up, I reluctantly got out. SInce then I have had the same trouble that everyone on here seems to have with finding the right doctor. Do you think it would be worth it to send him an email an see what he has to say, since I have veterans benefits? Thanks
MCF
I'm tempted to buy the paper. But first, anyone on these boards have access to free publications via university affiliation? If not, I think I'll buy the PDF. Thanks, MaryO!
Over 2000 Posts missaf Posted March 23, 2010 Over 2000 Posts Report Share Posted March 23, 2010 I'm tempted, too. Especially since my dad is a veteran and his module doctor blew him off when he asked about Cushing's (he's textbook in every way from Agent Orange). armymp
I have free access, my college didn't have it. I had to request it from another library though so it will be a few days before I can get a copy of it.
