  3. Karen (Rooon55), February 21, 2008. Karen’s disease started when she was a little girl (7) and she finally got a diagnosis in 2005. She had cycling Cushing’s, Thyroid disease, GH deficiency, and Auto immune Alopecia. She believes she is cured after two Pituitary surgeries.

  4. Karen’s disease started when she was a little girl (7) and she finally got a diagnosis in 2005. She had cycling Cushing’s, Thyroid disease, GH deficiency, and Auto immune Alopecia. She believes she is cured after two Pituitary surgeries. A doctor didn’t advise Vermont’s Karen Nolan (Rooon on the boards) that she might be one of the scant 3.5 per million people diagnosed annually with Cushing’s disease – another Cushing’s patient did.

  5. Kate (Fairley), July 17, 2008. Kate had symptoms since 1991. She had two pituitary surgeries and another recurrence. She is not yet cured and her current diagnoses are Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, panhypopituitarism and a CSF leak. She has appeared on National Geographic TV in the Science of Obesity.

  7. Leslie had pituitary tumors removed twice at the University Of Michigan. After her second surgery she gave birth to her second baby. She has had another recurrence and has had Gamma Knife Radiation April 3, 2008.

  17. Medical therapy has an important, albeit secondary, role in patients with Cushing’s syndrome. While medications are not currently used as definitive therapy of this condition, they can be very effective in controlling hypercortisolism in patients who fail surgery, those who are not surgical candidates, or those whose tumor location is unknown. Medical therapies can be particularly helpful to control hypercortisolism in patients with Cushing’s disease who underwent radiation therapy and are awaiting its salutary effects.

  18. Michelle is from  Santa Monica, CA.   She is not yet diagnosed with Cushing's but gained 50 pounds with no change in activity or eating. She sent an article on Cyclical Cushing's to her doctor at the Mayo Clinic.

  21. my dr did not tell me I had cushings but I have hashimotos, and I just started Korlym, does anyone know about weight loss, I am now taking 3 thyroid meds..

  23. Myth: YOU are the problem and the reason for your cortisol levels. Having issues with too much or too little cortisol, the stress hormone, means that YOU are stressing too much or are too anxious. “YOU could control your levels if you would JUST calm down!”

  24. Nicole is from Toronto, Canada  She is 37 years old and was diagnosed with Cushing's disease in May 2017 after suffering through a high risk pregnancy, early delivery and postpartum pain. She had a left adrenalectomy.
