Tests most definitely can come back negative. Diagnosing Cushing's is difficult, especially if it is cyclical Cushing's (the intermittent Cushing's mentioned.) I did several 24 hr UFCs before having one above normal. My tumors did not show) up in MRIs (not unusual as 40-50% don't), and I didn't have ALL the symptoms (no stretch marks or hair loss).
Have you had both the low dose dex test and another one for which you took 8 mg of dexamethasone? Any salivary cortisol tests? Serum cortisol? I had to do a great deal of testing and a few repeats of various tests before I was diagnosed. Testing is a difficult process and that is very stressful. Hang in there and do whatever it takes to be certain you receive help whether you have Cushing's or something else. Good luck!

I'm glad you wrote this, dear MaryO. I was gone for the weekend, stayed with my brother and sister-in-law, and helped my daughter do last minute things on the 1865 type dress she made and wore to a fashion show. I have been sick all three days since coming home.
What I find to be so difficult is that the quality of my life has been so diminished.
Can you help Sophie?

Hi Sophie! Welcome!
If you have already been diagnosed, what tests does your doctor want to do? I hope you are getting good care.
I regret that I don't speak French so can only write using English. I visited your country many years ago and really enjoyed being there. I found people to be helpful, and each place I went had tremendous beauty. I usually stayed in hostels; never went to a hotel.
What would you like to know? My pituitary surgeries were 13 and 14 years ago ( two tumors removed one year apart).
Good luck to you.
