I was smiling and laughing? more re-caps

What she said: Claudie is smiling and laughing! I raised her Prednisone on my own. She was only taking 7.5mg in the morning. I added a nighttime dose until she reached 10mg before bedtime. She stopped trembling and lay in bed all morning. The endo was not happy about it then she called me back and said well let?s let her feel good for a while before we lower the dose again. I had to make the decision to raise them after I read everything on this sight. I just knew that the doctors were not r

what I remember 2

More re-cap on my mom's posts   What she said: Hi Friends,   I talked to Claudette's endo today. She says she is very concerned and has questions out there to many other docs. She said that this so rare that she is getting all the info she can. I am supposed to up the prednisone to 2 times a day. 7.5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night. I hope she kept the morning dose down because she has gotten sick several times today. I think that the Vicodin is messing with her bowls. I understand it c

What I rememeber

SO I thought maybe I should go over my mom's post and tell it how I rememeber. Soo my mom said: Hi Friends, We went to the ER. Doctors are as annoying as ever. Claudette told them she was trembling. No, she could not pin point when it would happen. Yes, other wise she felt ok, except tired. I was asked if we carried an emergency kit. I told them no body talked to us about that. I told them 3 times that she started this while she was on 10MG of prednisone. They gave her some potassium and a 10

Hello, what are you doing here?

Hey everyone,   I thought I would tell you this funny thing that happened to me and my mom the other day. My mom and I were watching American Idol. She was on the computer listening to the people sing and I had my butt planted on the couch. Our apartment is small, its a one bedroom, small kitchen and big living room kind of place. So you can see the front door from where ever you are. So were sitting there like usual and our front door opens. We both spin around. My mom says, "Helllooooo?"

So Tired

Good Morning Everyone! It's officially 0100 and I cannot fall asleep for the third night in a row...wonderful!! I spoke with my Endo yesterday and he got the results back from both Imaging studies I had done only to have weird results once again. *Sigh* my Pit MRI It came back "Normal" however there was a comment on it by the radiologist that my Pituitary gland was asymmetrical (one side bigger than the other) I was told that it was most likely a normal birth defect. (Bummer #1) However...just l

On my way..

I'm on my way to LA Jan 30th to see Dr. F !   Hopefully my journey will bring me some answers soon!   So far, I have only had one blood cortisol test, that was high.   I had one salivary test that was very low.   I did not suppress on a 1-night dex test.   Until next time...

I Dropped My Basket...

It's not everyday that one admits that one has "problems"....but when problems arise in my life, they all come at once. I stopped taking my anti-depression med. because my PCP thought it would interfere with my potential Cushing's diagnosis...BIG MISTAKE! I found out the hard way what happens when you stop taking a medication that keeps you "even keel" as far as emotional stability goes. I had a meltdown....and it was the worst one I've ever experienced. But prior to stopping this medication

So Really Doc....What Is Wrong With Me?

Dr. "Mc.G" sat in his round little "Doctor's" Chair and listened to me prattle on and on about this documentary that I had seen on the National Geographic Channel with the most comical look on his face.....I'm willing to bet he thought I was a hypochondriac at that moment.....or that maybe I was ready to head on out to Butner.....(Mental health hospital in Durham, NC) But, boy was I wrong...he actually was listening to me.....Good God.....I had my foot in the door.   He had my blood drawn ...

Roller Coaster Ride Towards A Diagnosis....Or Is It Just Psychosis?

So for the last 14 years or so I've been dealing with health issues that I've had no idea where they came from or what was causing them. It started out when I was around 22 with mild headaches which really didn't bother me at the time because I could pop a few Tylenol and take care of it.   Then, by the time I was 30 it slowly progressed into mild depression and anxiety....Now, I had never been depressed as a teen or in my early 20's so this was new to me....I attributed this "new issue" as

My first Endo Appt

Yesterday I went on the 5 hour trip to Chicago. Dr Weiss seems to think there is a strong possibility that I have cushings. He took 13 tubes of blood to run some test and sent me home with 2 urine containers to do a 48 hour urine and he also sent me home with 2 Salivary containers to collect saliva in on midnight on Sunday. Dr weiss also took the time to hear me out. This dr looked at my horrible purple marks and said that they were straie and not from past pregnancies. He also noticed my sw

what to do

Hello everyone. Can't stand sitting at home anymore. Understand that I can't work with the drugs they put me on for pain but, Money is really tight and holidays are here. The time on me being sick is just the worst. I keep telling myself it may all be over soon. I hope every night that the next day will be the last day I am in pain. The Dr. in chicago is a cushings specialist so I am betting it all on him. Will let u know what happened when I get back.

Hope to have answers soon

Well I am back at home again. Have been put on Medical leave for 30 days from work. I have an appointment with Dr. Weiss A cushing specialist in Chicago, IL on November 21, 2007. I hope he can help me get better. Any answer is better than nothing. My headaches are getting worse, my hair is falling out more and I have more nodules throughout my stomach that no one can explain. So wish me luck everybody.

Munchausens

Well, lol I'm still being accused of having Munchausen's by a particular family member of mine.   Isn't that lovely? I'm apparently addicted to hospitals, clinics, and doctors for attention and milking this disease and my post-op for sympathy, attention and just all for the "fun" of it. You have to remind yourself that something's radically wrong when a healthy person is jealous of a sick loved one. All I know is to be thankful that this is all that's wrong with me as I know I'm not as half a

Really frustrated

Today I have missed another day of work due to the mysterious thing going on with my body. I now have a lot of dark blue patches on my skin where if you touch them they are very painful. Under my skin in these places you can feel lumps about the size of a pea or something a little bit bigger. This started out as one and I now have at least 9. We only know this because I put an X everywhere there was a lump and counted them. Can't sleep at night because these things cause me pain in the night whi

had some testing

I participated in the research today and had some type of iv dexamethasone test over a period of 5 hours. I go back tomorrow for a final blood. I will only be contacted if the tests are abnormal as it wasn't a consultation just me helping with research. The other endos don't think I have cushings despite abnormal abnormal cortisol tests and unfortunately this latest bunch seem to have taken this onboard, obviously I still think I do but sure it could be 'just' pcos. Hopefully if these tests are

testing tomorrow

After giving up on testing, tomorrow I am participating in a research project and having some sort of iv dex testing to be performed over a couple of hours. I also get another 24 hour urine and evening saliva test thrown in, as well as some bloods. The project is about distinguishing between pcos and cushings and I was a perfect candidate. The endocrinologist was impressed that I had kept all of my previous results, mainly due to advice I had received or read about on these boards.
